Medicare 2026 IRMAA Calculator
Calculate your Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) for Medicare Part B and Part D based on your 2024 income.
Part B Breakdown:
Do you have a Part D prescription drug plan?
ℹ️ Veterans Note: Many veterans with VA health care or TRICARE may not need a separate Part D plan. The VA provides prescription drug coverage, and TRICARE is considered creditable coverage. If you have these benefits, you may avoid the Part D IRMAA surcharge entirely. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
Your Estimated Annual IRMAA Cost
⚠️ Disclaimer: This tool provides estimates only and may not be exact. IRMAA is based on your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) from 2 years prior (2024 income for 2026 IRMAA). Understanding Medicare IRMAA
What is IRMAA?
IRMAA stands for Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount. It's a surcharge added to your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income exceeds certain thresholds.
2-Year Look-Back
Your 2026 IRMAA is based on your 2024 tax return (MAGI). This means income from two years ago determines what you pay today.
The "Cliff" Effect
IRMAA uses income "cliffs" not gradual increases. Going just $1 over a threshold can increase your premiums by over $1,000 per year.
Life-Changing Events
If your income dropped due to retirement, divorce, death of spouse, or other qualifying events, you can appeal using Form SSA-44.
